Staging is so simple even a Caveman can do it, right? WRONG! Staging has very unique requirements that, if done correctly, enhance your homes appearance, atmosphere and saleability. When done wrong, it can actually have the opposite effect. So, how do you know who to trust when there are so many people calling themselves stagers nowadays. Want to know what to look for in a Real Estate Stager?
First of all, you want someone with credentials. One way to check a stager's credentials is to visit the RESA (Real Estate Staging Association) website and search by name or location at www.RESA-USA.org
Secondly, ask for references. Looking at before and after photos on a website is one thing but talking to former clients is a better way to assess past performance.
Lastly, use your instincts. A good stager will conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner. If a stager doesn't offer a consultation service (expect to pay anywhere from $150 on up) then find one that does. For a relatively small investment, you can get a feeling for the staging process, what areas need to be addressed in your home and determine if the company you have hired is right for you.

• Clawson home staging to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity
Clawson home staging to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity
The Real Estate Staging Association Southeastern Michigan Chapter (RESA-SEM) will host a charity staged home event on Sunday, April 26, from 1 pm to 4 pm at 159 Highland in Clawson.
A five-dollar donation will admit each guest to tour the home. All proceeds support Habitat for Humanity's work in Oakland County.
Event sponsors include Cort Furniture, Dynamic Flowers, Fowler Real Estate, and Graebel Moving. Stagers include Selling Impressions, Staging Impressions, Home Sweet Home Staging, and Stage-Show-Sell.
"This is a perfect opportunity for anyone in the market for a home or those who are curious about how home staging works," said BT Irwin, Habitat Oakland County's director of partnerships. "Not to mention every dollar will help a neighbor in need become a homeowner through Habitat for Humanity."
